Two sorry stories for Marketing

Two items taken from The Week (18th of March 2006)

Marmite - (Philip Hensher in The Independent) ..."The texture; the salty kick; the little dark glass jar; the way it smears on hot buttered toast. And now some idiot from the marekting department has decided that 1) it should be thinner in texture and 2) it should come in squeezy bottles. They've noticed that a lot of peole can't stand Marmite and have decided they might like it if it was a thin paste out of a squeezy bottle. I can tell them this is not the case. It's just one more tiny, unnecessary piece of marketing -led nastiness, making all our lives just a little nastier."

Bad week for Sunny Delight, which is to be taken off the shelves at Asda because of plummeting sales. The sugary drink, which burst onto the market in 1998, is a victim of the trend for heathy eating.

Have you heard of any more stories of where marketing has gone too far?
